These results suggested that nitride complex 2 was formed via direct cleavage of the nitrogen–nitrogen triple bond under mechanochemical conditions (Fig. 3c, green). To gain further insight into the solid reaction mixture, we conducted Mo K-edge X-ray absorption measurements.
